BBC2 horizons documentary 'what's the matter with Tony Slattery?':
A THANK YOU from Tony
To you all;
What can I say. I am genuinely moved by the amount of messages, comments and emails that each of you have taken the time to write, and in which you have shown your support, your compassion, your encouragement - and, some of you - your courage in vocalising your own experiences of some of the issues addressed in the documentary. I am simply overwhelmed by the love and kindness you have shown me.
As you can imagine, I can't reply to all of you; but to each and every one of you, please know that your words are so appreciated and mean so very much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
I wouldn’t be here without my Mark. Once again, we send our affectionate appreciation to all of you and to the lovely team at Sundog Pictures for their sensitive and delicate handling of the topics contained within the documentary.
We hope that it goes some way in helping others. If it can help one person, then that is what #mentalhealthawareness (not just #mentalhealthawarenessweek) is all about: encouraging others to talk, to communicate, and break down stigma surrounding #mentalhealth. You are not alone.
If you are affected by any of the topics discussed in the film, whether you are a sufferer or supporter, please seek advice from your GP, or call any of the major charities and support networks in place, such as:

For those of you who didn't catch the #horizons documentary last night, you can find it at BBC iPlayer.
Do feel free to share.
Once again, my heartfelt love and thanks to you.

BBC2 Horizons DOCUMENTARY:
WHAT's the matter with Tony Slattery?
Airs Thursday 21st may at 9pm
Tony has been working with BBC2 and Sundog Pictures on a 60-minute documentary What's the Matter with Tony Slattery?.
As well as following Tony in his search for a clearer diagnosis, the programme will also explore new developments in the science of understanding and treating complex mood disorders, which Tony, and others in similar situations, will potentially be able to benefit from. These include using new technology as a diagnostic tool and the latest thinking about the relative impact of genetics versus environment in the development of mental health issues.
Tony hopes that by sharing his journey, it will heighten awareness of the condition, reduce stigma surrounding mental health, and provide solidarity between sufferers.
“Whatever the cause might be, I know that I am not unique in trying to cope with mental ill health and my main hope is that viewers will find the programme informative and helpful," Tony "That after all is the point of doing it.”
